Once more, Craigslist is thrown into the limelight over the controversy involving one of its ad services. Of particular interest is the outcome of the posting put under the “free to a good home” section of the website. The principal purpose of this specific section is to allow those pet owners that can no longer take care of their animals to give them up for adoption. A twist, however, has taken place that reverses the good intention of this service and instead put it in such a bad light.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) reported that the “free to good home” acts as an invitation to those people that simply want to torture and destroy these homeless animals. Arrests have been made involving people that harmed the animals they have received through these free offers. PETA has already written their concerns to Jim Buckmaster, Craigslist’s CEO, through email.

The public awaits the move that Craig list will make regarding this major issue. PETA is confident that a policy will be adopted that will put a stop to the “free to a good home” in order to save all the innocents creatures such as dogs and cats that are bound to be turned over to potential animal abusers.
