Something About Henry Kravis

Today, I am writing a short and brief biography about one of the most successful persons, Henry Kravis. Please go through my research and any good/bad comments are welcomed about this great person. I found him quite an interesting guy and his achievements are worth reading.

Henry Kravis, also known as Henry R. Kravis, was born on 6th of January 1944 at Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. He is an American business financier and investor. He is the co-founder, co-chairman, and co-CEO of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (”KKR”). The company was founded in 1976 by Henry Kravis and George Roberts. For over thirty years, both have led the firm in its growth into a leading global alternative asset manager. Kravis is actively involved in managing the firm and serves on the Investment and Portfolio Management Committees. Before co-founding KKR, Henry Kravis was in the Corporate Finance Department of Bear Stearns & Company from 1969 to 1976.

All the experience of Henry Kravis from his academic qualification background as well. He earned a B.A. in Economics from Claremont McKenna College and an M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business in 1969. Over the years, he has been actively involved as a member of the board of directors of numerous public and private companies. He currently serves on the board of First Data Corporation and as a director or trustee of several cultural and educational institutions, including the Partnership for New York City, Mount Sinai Hospital, WNET.ORG (New York public television stations Thirteen – WNET and WLIW21), Columbia Graduate School of Business (where he is chairman of the board), Rockefeller University, and Claremont McKenna College. Henry Kravis is also co-chairman of the New York City Investment Fund (NYCIF), a non-profit organization that he founded in 1996 to create jobs and help small businesses in New York City. The NYCIF was responsible for raising $11 million to provide 88 recoverable grants to small businesses in Lower Manhattan that suffered damage following the events of September 11, 2001. He also founded the Kravis Leadership Institute and established the Kravis Prize in Leadership at Claremont McKenna College, which is awarded annually to an international, non-profit organization that demonstrates leadership, creativity, and sustainability. Henry Kravis also serves on the board of the Council on Foreign Relations.

With an estimated current net worth of around $4.2 billion, Henry Kravis is ranked by Forbes as the 201st richest person in the world. He donated The Kravis dorm to the Loomis Chaffee School to house freshman boys.
