With San Antonio Spurs 2-0 win over Utah Jazz from the Western Conference Finals and now Detroit Pistons doing the same job 2-0 against Cleveland Cavaliers from the Eastern Conference Finals, I am having this strong feeling that the two teams will face each other this season’s final of the greatest game of basketball, NBA.
Well Till next game, it is yet undecided but both of the teams, Spurs and Pistons, if they will win that game. The next game for Spurs is in the home court of Jazz. Well it was an easy game for the first time in Jazz’s home ground, but this time they are under pressure so they are definitely going to give their bestest best given the fact of the home court advantage. Duncan was commenting in his last game that it’s going to be underdog fight between them, and that is so true.

For Pistons, it was Thursday night that they won by 79-76 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James of the Cavaliers had hard time finding his ways to beat the Pistons. Piston has shown their teamwork quality in the past by wining championship in the past too, and they still have got it this season. At the end of that game at 24.3 second remaining, Rasheed Wallace of Pistons jumper gave the Pistons a one-point lead. After that, Richard Hamilton hit two free throws the score remained 79-76 at the end. I didn’t get the full game but I saw the final part, but I am now pretty much sure that Cavaliers had pretty rough time with Pistons.

Now that the finals are on and everybody is waiting for the next games, I have this strange feeling that it’s going to be like 2005, the NBA finals, Spurs Versus Pistons. It’s only I cannot predict as of now who is going to win that NBA championship this year. Well it’s only my prediction but who knows miracles do happen. So lets keep watching the game that i love the most. NBA – I love this game!

Yesterday was quite fun watching NBA after quite some long time. It was San Antonio Spurs versus Utah Jazz. Though I watched the match from the second half only, the match was like one-way ride from that point onwards. Spurs took the lead throughout the game. Jazz was never close enough to give Spurs any trouble of panic as such.

The cameraman was showing up Derek Fisher putting his hands on his forehead and nodding while he was on the bench. Manu Ginobili showed some of his superb skill of quickness and scored 17 points but he had some misses too but he never gave up and kept them coming. The heart of the Spurs, Tim Duncan, had 26 points and 14 rebounds but I think he wasn’t fully there in that game. I wonder if he has more to show for the next game. He has been one of my favorite players in NBA, and his and mine shooting styles are quite similar with our hands raised high up while we score. It was in the fourth quarter that Bowen started hitting three of his three pointers. He doesn’t scores quite much but he is there when his team needs him, both defensively and offensively.

Jazz’s players had some highlights too, with Carlos Boozer scoring 33 points 15 rebounds but it wasn’t enough to beat Spurs in their own home court. At last, Tony Parker sealed the game with his final and only three pointer of his own this game at 105-96. So now Spurs move one step closer to the championship through the Western Conference Finals with the 2-0 lead over Utah Jazz. I think Spurs is going for one more win and may be holding their one more championship trophy this season.

Lakers Out From The Semis

With lost of Lakers to Suns 119-110 this Wednesday night, my hope for Kobe breaking some more records went down to doom. The Suns never trailed and lead the game all the way. They knew that Lakers would come back in second round. Amare Stoudemire said, “It was a desperate game for them, so you knew they would fight back in the second half.” But no matter what tactics Lakers used, the Suns were able to beat there every move. The game consisted of lots of free throws by the Suns that night, mostly Stoudemire with 21 free throws. He was able to make 15 of his attempts. Stoudemire had 27 points and 16 rebounds for this game.

Bryant scored 34 but it was not just enough. It was just 13-33 from the field. May be the happy and proud new father, Raja Bell, was too much determined to defense Bryant this night. Bell’s wife gave birth to their first child just six hours before the tipoff of this game.

So, Lakers go down and would have to wait for next season for trying for NBA Championship while the Suns advances to one step forward to the Western Conference semifinal match up to Round 2 where they will face San Antonio Spurs, who eliminated Denver in five games.

Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles, Lakers’ own, scores his 10th 50 points this season. His amazing shooting skills led him to this stage. Bryant finished with 50 points on 18-of-25. His shootings carried the Lakers to a 109-98 victory over Seattle this Sunday night that clinched a playoff spot for Los Angeles. Lakers have been having hard time winning the games. This is their third win in 11 games. And after the win Kobe said, ““We feel much better. We needed this type of win.” Bryant was saying when the playoff starts he may shoot some more or may not but their defense needs a lot of work. His exact words were, “If the jumper is on, we’ll ride it out. If it’s not, we’ll have to find another way to win. Our defensive continuity is going to be our biggest challenge.” Phil Jackson, coach of the LA Lakers, has the record of never missing the NBA playoffs throughout his 17-year career in NBA as a coach but he too thinks Lakers need a lot of working to do.

Bryant’s score of 50 or more for the 10th time this season is now the third-highest total in NBA history behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 45 times with 50 or more in 1961-62, and Chamberlain’s 30 times the following season. Bryant still will have lot to do for the first place in that board. This is Bryant’s 21st time that he scored his 50th points.

I still doubt that the Lakers will ever go to the finals and win the championship. So far, Lakers are still depending on their key player, Kobe Bryant, but they have to realize that basketball is never one-man game. Teamwork and mostly defense is the only quality that Lakers lack at this time. I still have my fingers crossed over here and hope Bryant shows some of his skills and break some records by this playoff.

TC stands for Tri-Chandra College. TC is one of the oldest college of Kathmandu or Nepal as a whole. In the heart of TC, there is the monument, “Ghanta Ghar,” Roman-styled clock which gives NST (Nepali Standard Time). And the opposite of that monument there is another monument called “Rani Pokhari.” Besides the “Rani Pokhari” is the central office and building of TC, and at the corner we have our own basketball court, which has been our home court since 9-10 years back. Since college, we started playing there. Though we are not the actual student of TC, we have been involved in several games from TC. People there have respect on us and they know us as TC Basketball players. Most of them even don’t know that we haven’t ever studied there but as we always hang around there and play basketball not only for fun but even participated in several tournaments from TC team. At those times, we used to play daily throughout the day. Sometimes, I don’t even have my food and I will be playing all day long in those sunny days, as the result of which we get skin burn. But who cares? As long as we have basketball to play. We just love the game and more often love to play and have fun with it. I don’t know the exact measurement of the court but it seems pretty big than the usual ones. I believe it must be of NBA professional court. It is the biggest courtyard I have know that ever exists in Nepal. One in Tribhuwan University is a big court as well but I think TC’s court is even bigger than that one as the 3-point range is pretty far as compared to Tribhuwan University’s court. As time went by, lots of our friends went abroad and we have less friends who are regular players there now. So from daily, it has become once a week on Saturdays that we play in our home court. I hope in future, we still will have the same number of friends remaining and I am afraid it wouldn’t be once a year play or so. For now I am enjoying once a week game on Saturdays. Lets play some hoop guys! In our own home court! TC Court!!!

Kobe Bryant! May be next MJ

Kobe Bryant, one of my favorite player in NBA. He is 6 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 210 pounds, and plays from the Los Angeles, Lakers. He is the youngest man ever to play in the NBA at the age of 18 years and 2 months and 11 days. I am quite fascinated by his quick moves and his distinctive dunking styles and his superb shooting skills. It just increases my adrenaline rush and makes me more interested in watching the games he plays. There are lots of NBA superstars in the NBA who makes us say, I Love This Game!!! Among those, Kobe is one of the best players. As stated, his moves and game has leaded his team Lakers to most of the playoffs and some championship trophies too. He acted as Robin with his co-superstar Shaquille O’Neal so called Batman in one of the finals. The pair led the Lakers to NBA championships in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

Bryant claimed Malone made inappropriate comments to his wife but Malone denied it and said the comments were in jest and Bryant is overreacting.

Okay so that’s about Kobe that I found out through internet research and through what I have in my knowledge. I am glad about this blog post I posted today as I had pretty much of quality time researching and gaining more knowledge of one of my favorite player, Kobe Bryant.

He scores flying in the air, he dunks flying in air and slams it home, he dribbles and before you blink your eyes he is there for the hoop, he belongs in the air may be that is why he is well known as “Air Jordan.” Yeah, I am talking about the greatest player in the NBA history, our own MJ, Michael Jeffrey Jordan. He was born on January of 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated his High School from Laney (Wilmington, N.C.) and his College from North Carolina. He was drafted by Chicago Bulls in 1984 (third overall). He is 6 feet 6 inches tall and weighs over 216 pounds. It was his one of the Slam Dunk Contests performance when he dunked the ball from the foul line and earned his name as “Air Jordan” and “His Airness.” He really had unique combination of fundamental soundness, grace, speed, power, artistry, improvisational ability, and an unquenchable competitive desire that lead Jordan single-handedly redefined the NBA superstar. He was just extraordinary.

He has honors such as:
Six-time NBA champion (1991-93, 1996-98); NBA MVP (1988, ‘91, ‘92, ‘96, ‘98); 10-time All-NBA First Team (1987-93, 1996-98); All-NBA Second Team (1985); Defensive Player of the Year (1988); Nine-time All-Defensive First Team (1988-93, 1996-98); Rookie of the Year (1985); 14-time All-Star; All-Star MVP (1988, ‘96, ‘98); One of 50 Greatest Players in NBA History (1996); Two-time Olympic gold medallist (1984, ‘92).

Summary of his stats:
G FG% 3PFG% FT% Rebs RPG Asts APG Stls Blks Pts PPG
1,072 .497 .327 .835 6,672 6 .2 5,633 5.3 2,514 893 32,292 30.1

That’s my Air Jordan. The only person I had been admiring since I was a kid and will as I think no one can outlast his Airness. His name will stand there forever. No matter what, he will still have respect in years to come.
