When I was a kid, I didn’t really listen that much of songs that deeply. Well I did but not that much like I do nowadays. I was kind of outgoing person and love to walk and roam around new places on foot and play lots of outdoor as well as indoor games. Then in my adolescence, I used to listen to lots of songs, mostly rock and roll, and then came the metals and heavy metals. Well I listen to all kind of songs from sentis, jazz and blues to country songs, rock and roll, metal, heavy metal, and much more. I am not that much into hip-hop though. At that time, I used to listen to a lot of rock and roll and stuffs. Lately, Led Zeppelin has become one of my favs, and my all time Starr is still Bryan Adams.

I have one very close friend from the past 5-6 years. He is now a newborn true Christian. He has lots of believe in Christ, being the mercy god and all. It is not that I don’t respect Christ or any god of any beliefs for that matter, I just found something kind of funny about his remarks on rock and roll songs and metal songs. He once told me, “Do you know why we true Christians don’t listen to rock and roll and metal songs?” I knew there was something about them not listening to the song but I wasn’t certain. So I asked, “Why?” He then goes, “We believe those songs are like prayer for Satan. You can actually hear Satan’s prayer if you reverse the tape or the cassette and play it.” Actually, I had done that while I was a kid. I had turned the tape and then I could hear awkward and different sound while the tape is played backwards. His remarks made me laugh for a while thinking that was too weird and stupid remarks not made by him but made by those who actually first commented on that sort of songs. I just think that it doesn’t matter if it is even sung by the devil himself, as long as your heart is pure and you are close to god. Music is something that is meant to calm you down, feel comfortable, groovy, help express yourself, and feel alive. So there is nothing wrong with either rock and roll or metal or whatever devilish songs. I used to love it, am loving it, and will always love music of any kind as long as I think they make me feel alive. I just have three words for all, Rock on dudes!

Though I haven’t listened too much of Nepali songs that passionately, I am trying write some of the things I know about “The Shadows” our own Nepali Rock Band, being them my girlfriend’s favorite band. My friend Bhupesh has been a friend of this band from what I know, but I have never listened to them back then. It’s only when one day my gf told me that I should at least listen to what she likes that I tuned in to their song, and I didn’t find it too bad. They were kinda good. In person as well I have met some of the band members in one of my friends party but haven’t spoken to them quite closely, but they behave like gentlemen and were friendly in behavior too. So now that I have listened to them and met some of them as well, I can tell they are one awesome rock band and cool people to meet.

Here is what I know about the band members:

Nowadays many band members are coming with new energy and excitements from different parts of the country. The Shadows is also the one who came out from Narayangadh, Chitwan, Nepal in the year 1996. It has been nearly 11 years that they have established their band. This unique band has altogether five band members and one band manager.

The Shadows are:
Swapnil Sharma: The main vocalist.
Amit Pradhan: Bass guitar.
Prakash Rasailey: Lead guitar.
Prashant VK: Rhythm guitar.
Bikash Manandhar: Drums.

Rupesh Sen: The band manager.

The album that I have listened of them is Hidne Manchhe Ladchha. Her favorite song is “Prakriti” from the same album. So far I find all of the songs in this album equally cool, heavy metal type songs. Well I hope they will try and keep it on and win people’s heart in years to come.

Bryan Adams – Summer of '69

“I got my first real six-string
Bought it at the five-and-dime
Played it till my fingers bled
It was the summer of ‘69

Me and some guys from school
Had a band and we tried real hard
Jimmy quit and Jody got married
I shoulda known we’d never get far

Oh when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Ya – I’d always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life

Ain’t no use in complainin’
When you got a job to do
Spent my evenin’s down at the drive-in
And that’s when I met you

Standin’ on your mama’s porch
You told me that you’d wait forever
Oh and when you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life

Back in the summer of ‘69

Man we were killin’ time
We were young and restless
We needed to unwind
I guess nothin’ can last forever – forever, no

And now the times are changin’
Look at everything that’s come and gone
Sometimes when I play that old six-string
I think about ya wonder what went wrong

Standin’ on your mama’s porch
You told me it would last forever
Oh the way you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life

Back in the summer of ‘69
Ah huhhhh.
It was the summer of ’69.
Oh. Yeah.
Yeah my baby it’s ‘69.
Ohhhh.
It was the summer
Summer
Summer of ’69…”

That’s the song that rocked and still rocks my mind whenever I listen to it. Amongst all of this supercool Canadian rock singer, “Summer of ‘69” song just rocks the most. I and my friends have sung this song so many times at picnics, get-together, gatherings, and most of the times when we are in our motorbike ride. It just rocks our brain out shouting out loud and rhyming the summer of 69. It’s something you gotta do to feel it. Just sing out loud with Mr. Adams in our heart. Though we weren’t even born in summer of ’69, we can feel what he means as we had been in those times where we’d feel the same like he felt in his ages.

Something about Summer of ’69:
The song was in the album called Reckless which was released in 1984. It was written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. And in 1985, the song became a smash hit in the US and was able to reach the #5 on the Billboard Top 100. It remained there for two weeks. As Mr. Adams got more popular in 1990s and 2000s, the song was hit all over the world.

This song is pretty old but still rocks in the present time of metal and hip hop age. Just touches the heart and makes us dance and jump and shout out loud. It is just awesome!

Bryan Adams

Bryan Adams is one of my favorite singer. His unique voice and his cool songs just makes my mind go easy. He is a Canadian rock singer who was born on born 5tb of November 1959. He is not only a rock singer but a fine guitarist, songwriter, and a photographer too. I find all of his songs so rocking and meaningful, and his unique voice boost his songs. He must have high goals and career in his mind as he quit his high school when he was 15 and used the money that his parents saved to buy a grand piano. Yeah, it really sounds crazy but that’s what he did. He used to play in nightclubs in bands like Shock and Sweeney Todd, which released an album called If Wishes Were Horses with Adams as lead singer. It was in 1978, age 18, when he send a demo recordings to A&M Records in Toronto, and was signed to them not long afterwards for the sum of one dollar. Since then he has written and released 14 albums. “I am ready” and “Remember” was on his first album. His first ever self-titled debut album was released in February of 1980.

No singer can play without a band backup and his band right now has the following lineup:
Keith Scott – Lead/Rhythm Guitar
Mickey Curry – Drums
Gary Breit – Keyboards
Norm Fisher – Bass Guitar

Keith Scott and Mickey Curry has been with him since early 1980s while Gary Briet and Norm Fisher were a part of band since early 2000s. Before them, Tommy Mandel used to play keyboards in the band and Dave Taylor played bass guitar till 1980-1997.
