Wlink (WorldLink) is one of the reputed ISP (Internet Service Provider) in Nepal. Even I am a regular subscriber of it. Lately one incident occurred. I find it somewhat hilarious and somewhat irresponsible and foolishness behavior of them. This is the age of Internet and everything is going on through the net. You name it and it is there; shopping, business, love, relationship, friendship, entertainment, information, and studies. Day by day, we encounter lots of spam emails in our inbox. Same thing happened to some of the Wlink subscribers. The spam they received was from some of the sites of blogspot. So they reported to the Wlink abuse section. From the next day, their protection against that spam email was blocking the www.blogger.com and blogspot pages so that no one who are subscribing Wlink’s connection would get those emails. It was such a foolish thing to do. It’s like blocking Microsoft for getting spam emails from their hotmail services. I found it so much hilarious, at the same time I was so much pissed of by their foolishness act. I phoned the support and asked them to unblock those sites. Firstly, they said it can’t be done right now, and they asked me to come visit the head office. Well, I didn’t go due to my busy schedules, but I had lots of my friends, who are the subscriber of Wlink, phone them and tell them to unblock the site. Luckily after some days of the blocking, finally may be they realized lots of people are getting affected by the banning, and they unblocked those sites. I think no ISP should practice these sorts of “stupid act.” Lots of my friends who earn from these sites suffered a great deal of loss in those banned days. I think they should find better ways to protect the spam emails rather than to ban the whole site like Wlink’s protection against spam emails.

As you can see, up above is a table which contains some number figures with all the dates and months and days. Yeah it is quite amazing that the whole calendar can be made in a single table. So now you can carry a copy of a calendar in your pocket and carry around and whenever you need to check out the date you can see it. Well it is the world of technology and I know we have mobiles and Ipods and other devices where we can find dates without much of an effort but yet I think this calendar is far better in terms of finding out the whole year in a single table.

Actually, one of my friend, Bhola, got married yesterday on 29th of April, 2007 that will be Baisakh 16, 2064 according to Nepali calendar, and from his great great-grandfather their occupation used to be creating calendar with all the astrological values calculated in it. So, Bhola’s invitation card included this one table which included whole year calendar and it was quite amazing and wonderful, so I thought of creating one of Gregorian calendar too.

How to read the calendar:
First row contains the 12 months in the 12 columns.
Second row contains number of days in the respective month.
The rest seven rows contains the Days of the month.
In the middle you can find seven rows and five columns with the dates included.

So the third rows has the first day of the month, like for January, the first day is Monday then you can see in the middle Monday = 1 and then so on. So for the month of January you just have to look for the first column and the middle part of the table with the dates. And we can do the same for the rest of the months as well like for February, you only consider the dates for 28 days as mentioned in the second column of the second row.

Though it seems quite confusing for the first timer to read and understand the calendar, once you get the hang of it, it will be quite easier and fun. Well happy calculating! Hope this calendar would help out most of the people and hope they have fun calculating. J

Studying Abroad

Day by day many people are going abroad for future studies. I don’t know why I never had this in mind that I would be going abroad for my further studies. In those lots of unsuccessful dreams and aim, one comes of becoming an army doctor. I was so passionate about the army life and being a doc and helping poor people who need the care and treatment. Well some dream never comes true, but who knows may be those who go abroad for their studies may fulfill their dream. My childhood dreamland has always been USA. I don’t even know why I would want to go there but it has been like my recurring dream, and as I said some dreams that won’t come true.

Our country, Nepal, has lots of instability in running the classes for the school and mostly colleges. There is always some strike once a month or so, and sometimes the strike goes so long that they would have to postpone the exams. The courses for the subjects are never finished. The students have to read by themselves without any guidance of any teacher, and I it so damn hard for them to concentrate in their studies with all the strikes and instability of the country’s government rules and problems. That is the main reason lots of youngsters are going abroad for their future studies. In a way, it is quite good idea. They can study in peaceful mind and can earn loads too. Our country’s economy is unstable as well and this might help them as well as our country’s economy. But going abroad is not an easy task. You need to fulfill the requirements and that includes a very high fees for the college and all the expenses to be made before the visa applications, all those SAT, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, IELTS, and lots more of tests that you need to clear up with high marks. Then after you get to apply for the college and then go for a visa interview, and if you get pass through all these tests, you are now ready for abroad studies. You will then get your visa and they can fly away to the country you hope would make your dreams come true. Lots of my friends are abroad for their studies and their bright future. I hope god is with them, and I wish them all the best in pursuing their dreams studying abroad.

The definition of lie that I got from Random House Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary is:
lie n., v., lied, ly·ing.
A false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.

I used to lie too when I was a kid but that would be instantaneous lie like I used to lie to my teachers. Sometimes I wouldn’t know the answers of certain questions so I would be unable to finish my assignments, and when the teacher asked for my assignment, I would simply lie by saying, “Sir/Ma’am! I forgot to do it or I forgot to bring my assignment.” It was so easy answer, and of course I would get some kind of punishment for my lies but there was a reason behind that lie. If I would have said I don’t know how to do it, they would have punished me even more coz the fault was mine as I must have not concentrated in the class. May be mind was at a different location at that time. Well there was a reason. As I grew older, I lied to my parents to go outside and play. I would play certain games, which I wasn’t allowed to, and when asked if I did that kind of stuff, I would simply say, No. I didn’t. And in my adolescence the lies were even more deliberate. I would only lie when I need to but soon I began to realize that lying is never good. It would hurt people knowingly/unknowingly. So I started hating lies and liars.

There were times when people closed to me lied. I would know when they lied but I had to keep my mouth shut in order to save our precious friendship. I have lots of good and bad experiences where people have lied to me. One question that always bugs my mind is, “why do people lie?” Most of us would say people lie for a reason and for their benefit. I agree on that statement as well, but as I experienced it, I found out that people do lie without a reason as well. I don’t know if to address them as psychos or insane or whatever but I have found so many people lying without a reason. May be they find pleasure in lying, may be it’s their mischievous behavior that puts those act of lying and playing with other person’s feeling and life. I still haven’t found the answer. Why would people lie?

Medical Transcription

Medical Transcription basically deals with the patient’s report in any hospital or clinic. The busy schedules of doctors in any medical institute has to get time for dictating the files of their patient in order to make one orderly format of their past history and tests that they undertake. So basically, the docs dictate their patient’s report in a Dictaphone or any other voice recording software and send them for transcription. The medical transcriptionist (MT) then type those records into the word processing program. The MT should posses good written English with all the grammar, punctuations, and good vocabulary. They should have good knowledge of medical terminology and should go through trainings that deals with the medical field. And lastly the most important part, they should possess good hearing skill. They should be able to understand and pick up various accents as Hispanic, Indian, Chinese, etc. as most of the files comes from the United States of America where there are people from all around the world living there.

It’s quite tough job being an MT, and the statistic shows that there are more jobs and less MTs in this world. May be due to the lack of knowledge or due to low pay but people don’t seem to interest in this job. Well talking in the preface of Nepal, it is 100% lack of knowledge. Most of the people don’t even know that the world medical transcription means, and it is hard describing them about how the job is done. It is quite a bit of money-raising business if we think seriously over the underdeveloped and poor country as ours, and it is the win-win situation of the work is done from here or any other south Asian country due to the time difference and the low wage rate in such areas rather than the Western areas. That is why it has been growing over Eastern areas these days.

Well that is about medical transcription, the job that I basically do for living. Currently, I work from home, and this is the kind of the job that do and love to do.

I am Back Again!!!

After quite a time, finally, I am back into blogger to post some thoughts of mine. Well lets start this thing we have in a different way.

Since my best interest is in sports, mostly basketball, today I am going to write a blog in a totally different, full of action, and adventures way, well of basketball of course, the main focus being NBA (National Basketball Association).

To know about NBA, you must be familiarized by the term Basketball. Well basketball is a sport in which there are two teams of five players. Each try to score points against one another by throwing a ball through a hoop, also the basket, under organized rules. Points are scored by passing the ball through hoop from above. The team with more points at the end of the game wins. The ball is advanced on the court by bouncing it, which is called dribbling, or passing it between teammates. There are certain rules and violations in it. Any physical contact during the game which is disruptive is considered as a foul.

Basketball is played both indoors and outdoors as well. Mostly basketball games, mostly great tournaments such as NBA are played as indoor sport, while it also has become exceedingly popular as an outdoor sport among groups of people in the small cities.

Da Ugly Devil

I know this name, Da Ugly Devil, might freak out lots of people, and mostly my site’s name too is www.dauglydevil.com. But it is not like devilish or anything. It is something that I represent myself as. And no I am not that pessimistic and find myself depressed of the fact that people call me da ugly devil, moreover, it makes me proud because that is what I am. I know I am ugly and my home sure looks like hell, so I call myself da ugly devil. One of my best friends, Flor, and I had this kidding discussion of whom being the devil and actually at the end I became her lil devil, and so from that moment I named myself da ugly devil. Before that incident, I used to name myself as the ugly beast. I gave myself that name for my other best friend, Kriti. So that is where the name dauglydevil came from. You can see my other profiles in myspace, hi5, and zorpia as well.

This site www.dauglydevil.com is fully prepared and dedicated for my passion of blogging. Actually, my friend Sameer, who owns Addicted to Sports and Arsenal Football Blog, inspired me for this blogging job. He has been doing for more than seven or eight months now, and it really is quite an interesting job where you get to earn and enjoy the net at the same time. Since my favorite time is when I m mostly around internet, I too decided to do this blogging, and actually Sameer really did help me a lot for this site too. He has paid for the domain registering of this site. We had so much difficult time choosing the name for the domain, and finally I thought why not give a name from which I am being popular these days, so I thought of giving the name as www.dauglydevil.com. I hope I would progress a lot in this blogging business. All my friends do pray for this devil, your one and only Da Ugly Devil!!!
